Shame Doesn't Defeat Me

Romans 10:11
For the Scripture says, “Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.” (ESV)

Isaiah 28:16
Therefore, this is what the Sovereign LORD says: “Look! I am placing a foundation stone in Jerusalem, a firm and tested stone. It is a precious cornerstone that is safe to build on. Whoever believes need never be shaken.(NLT)

Romans 9:33
As it is written: “See, I lay in Zion a stone that causes people to stumble and a rock that makes them fall, and the one who believes in him will never be put to shame.” (NIV)

1 Peter 2:6
For in Scripture it says: “See, I lay a stone in Zion, a chosen and precious cornerstone, and the one who trusts in him will never be put to shame.” (NIV)

One of the many great things about believing in Jesus is that God takes our shame. The focus of shame is the point out where sin is affecting your self-identity. It exposes the moments where we fail to live up to the high calling and purpose God has placed on our lives.

Failure, however, can be a very hard thing to move on from. Don't let your self dwell there and give it the power to tear you down. Use your moments of shame to identify anything that is a sin or disobedience and give it right back to God. Pray God's Word over your life and let go.

You are more than your shame and God doesn't want to hold you there. He wants you to find those things that are keeping you away from Him and remove them, so He can be closer.
